Tuesday night was officially fashion month’s grand finale, after weeks full of work for the fashion industry, and there was no better way to end it than honoring the one and only Mr. Alber Elbaz. The magnificent show took place in Paris and forty-five designers from all over the world gathered to pay tribute to Alber. The best part? Each one of them was asked to design an outfit in Mr. Elbaz’s memory, inspired by their friendship and moments together and as a celebration of his legacy to fashion. It was just perfection.
Held in front of his real family and fashion colleagues, the show was full of details and emotions that made it feel like Alber was truly there. One of our favorites fun facts of the show was that food was circulating all around the venue and champagne was served the whole time, because Alber believed in food and hospitality.
Some of the designers that took part in the hommage were Pierpaolo Piccioli of Valentino, Demna Gvasalia of Balenciaga, Ralph Lauren, Nicolas Ghesquière of Louis Vuitton and Guram Gvasalia of Vetements. This show ripped away stereotypes and showed us a fashion industry united and full of love, just how Alber always dreamed it could be.
Alber was known for his identifiable design signatures, such as the use of hearts and bows, and his motto in life: ‘Love Brings Love’ was a big inspiration for the show. The celebration was a perfect way to end fashion month and the creations were as beautiful as Alber’s way of thinking and seeing life.
